Tim, what made you decide that you had to ask Christy to be yours forever?

She and I have a lot in common such as sports, movies, music, etc. Also she handles a lot of my crap when I'm sick or tired, I can get pretty cranky. Also she loves me.

Christy, where were the two of you when Tim asked?

Tim had taken me on a "vacation" to the island of St. Thomas last February, just before Valentine's Day.  On Friday, the 11th (my favorite number, by the way), we went to a fancy restaurant at the resort we were staying at, did a little gambling, and then Tim suggested we take a late-night walk on the beach.  It was really quiet and we were the only ones there.  We were just chatting when he started telling me about when he told my dad that he was going to take me on a trip, just the two of us.  Then Tim said, “That’s also when I asked your dad for permission to marry you ."  Then he got down on one knee in the sand with a ring in one hand.  It was kind of dark but I could see it sparkling in the moonlight.  It was beautiful!

Tim, how did you do it?

I took her to St. Thomas for Valentines Day week and I popped the question on the beach at night.

Christy, were you surprised?

Yes and no.  Before I left for St. Thomas, everyone kept saying," I bet he's gonna ask you to marry him."  But I know Tim (or I thought I did) and he hates Valentine's Day.  Plus, he likes to be original and do things when I least expect them.  So, I figured it would be too cliche for him to ask around that time.  So, I guess you could say I was surprised. I was really surprised at how nervous I was.  I wouldn't even give him my hand.  At first, I thought it was a joke.

Tim, were you nervous?

Not really, was pretty confident what the answer was. I was more nervous that my whole plan wasn't going to get messed up.....she has a tendency to mess my plans up.

Christy, what did he say to you and what did you say?

Well, at first I thought it was a joke (he's a jokester) until I realized he was holding a real diamond in his hand.  But just to make sure, I said,"Are you serious?" in which he replied,"Hello!  Man on knee with ring!"  I suddenly felt really nervous and felt like a million butterflies were fluttering in my stomach.  But I couldn't stop smiling.  I finally said,"Of course I will."  So then he finally grabbed my hand (since I was so nervous I was holding it behind my back) and slipped the ring on my finger.  We kissed and had a long, meaningful hug, and then we walked back along the beach and headed toward our room (which had a beautiful ocean view, by the way)!
